2009-present Ali Stronge
Ali Stronge was a successful International 3-day eventer before deciding to gain experience of training prior to applying for her licence. The brothers Sam and Robert Stronge, from Dromore, County Down, were born into a racing family as their father was a successful National Hunt jockey before he launched his training career, and both his sons pursued careers as National Hunt jockeys. Sam had his first mounts aged 16, eventually joining Champion Trainer Paul Nicholls, and riding for 7 years until his weight put paid to his riding career, although he had amassed over 150 winners by then. Ali married Sam and the pair bought Castle Piece stables in the Berkshire village of Eastbury, barely 3 miles from Lambourn. While Sam acted as a jockeys agent, Ali developed Castle Piece into a pre-training yard, preparing horses for Champion Trainers Paul Nicholls and Nicky Henderson. However, in 2013 Ali successfully applied for a dual purpose trainers licence and launched her own career in the 2013-14 season. They have access to the Jockey Club Estate Mandown Gallops in Lambourn, but closer to the stables they have a 5 furlong track and 8-furlong woodchip gallop. Whilst they are still waiting for their first high-profile race winner, they have gained numerous wins with Ardmayle, Storm Melody, Renardeau, Drewmain Legend and Helluvaboy amongst many others.
